Who Dunnit ?
Students from year 8 partook in a cross-curricular day on Tuesday, 26th January, 2010. Boosted Education provided a course (funded and organised by the Humanities with English Specialism team) entitled Murder in the Monastery .
The day involved understanding the historical setting of a mediaeval monastery and monastic orders, translating Middle English and applying scientific approaches to the investigation of the murder of Abbot John. A number of students donned the roles of various monastic personnel, from the Gatekeeper to Brother Ambrose. All students dirtied their hands trying to solve the murder by inspecting soil samples, taking impressions of key clues, examining DNA and using thinking skills!
I thought the day was interesting and I learned a lot: it was definitely worth missing lessons! Caite Muldowney
