hello!
thanks so much for your email; sorry not to respond earlier i've just been
on the road a lot recently! It is great to hear about your team! How exciting. I
wish the team and your program all the best of luck and if i ever have a spare moment
next time i'm in Herefordshire i will try to stop in! Now you just need an event
team :)
All the best,
Leslie
In a very eventful and exciting day the equestrian team, after a slow start, performed exceptionally well.
They looked fantastic and rode with enthusiasm against what can only be described as strong opposition - from Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Powys and Shropshire.
In the Novice class:
The Individual event:
Again began slowly, Zoe was thrown from her horse - but picked herself up, and got the horse around. Laura rode with confidence and only had 2 faults, Georgia had 1 fault, and Eloise rode bravely in a difficult class - unfortunately was a faller again.
It was looking like one of those days - but the students never lost heart and kept trying their best.
Elliott rode a perfect round and was first to win a rosette, that set the standard and Holly, Amy and Lydia followed. All with clear rounds and rosettes.
Then onto the team (this was our main event) and the students were amazing:
We went late in the draw and watched teams struggle over the bigger fences - only clear rounds would give us a chance. Holly cleared, Amy cleared but unfortunately Lydia had 1 refusal. That meant Elliott had to jump clear (no pressure) and he did not disappoint. Anchoring the team home with a fantastic ride:
The team came 3rd out of 16 - not only beating (wigmore, minster, QE, Cathedral, Lucton, Bishops), but claiming top Herefordshire School in the Intermediate team event. The top 2 were from Worcester and Shropshire.
The final event was the senior (big fences).
The team was amazing and Holly, Lydia, Amy and Georgia Park all rode with courage and confidence - each rider had 1 fault. A clear round would have placed us in the top 5.
A great day and i hope you will agree that we didn't do too bad for our first year.
Looking forward to next year - both to defend our Herefordshire Title and go for the senior title (won by a school from shropshire).

Unfortunately we began the day with 2 falls with Eloise and Louisa both being thrown at the same fence. Laura rode well but picked up too many faults, but then Georgia anchored the team home with a clear run. As an inexperienced team they were a credit to the school and tried their best.
Team 2 did better with Holly Preece and Amy Betts leading with clear rounds, Zoe struggling with her horse, but did amazing to complete the course - and then Elliott Barnes anchoring the team home. A clear round would have placed the team 3rd - unfortunately his horse refused at the last fence after a perfect ride.
