I am very pleased that OFSTED have confirmed our belief that Lady Hawkins' is a good school. There has been considerable progress made since the last inspection, with last year's GCSE results showing the percentage of students gaining 5 A*-C grades more than doubling between 1998 and 2006. It is also pleasing to note that in this report the figures for good or better teaching have risen from two thirds to three quarters of lessons. I have always maintained that education is about more than examination results and I am pleased that the report also recognises the high quality of our extra-curricular activities and the relationships of all within the school. The School's success and progress was also recognised by the DfEE when we gained School Achievement Awards in 2001 and again in 2002.

Lady Hawkins' School is a small but growing rural school with a long, proud history. As you will see it is very well equipped to prepare young people for life in the twenty-first century, working to combine modern developments with the best of tradition.

Our size makes it possible for the whole staff to get to know your child as an individual and make their personal happiness, care and development our priority. The warm, friendly environment provides students of all backgrounds and abilities with the opportunity to work to their full potential.
